Society of 'Edo' is old-fashioned and feudalistic? No way! It is prejudice among us today. Edo was perhaps more free, safer and more progressive than modern society.
New knowledge to break the mold was gatherd in this book from the aspect of clothing, fooding, and housing and others. What on earth was the world like that Edo people lived?

A historian. Graduated from Department of Social Studies, faculty of Education of Waseda university. Doctor's degree of literature (Waseda University) He is active in writing under the theme of Edo, giving leture, and checking the historical authenticity for TV programs. He also works as a lecturer at JR East The 'Otona-no-Kyujitsu' and 'Zipangu Club', lifelong learning center of Tokyo University of Science, NHK cultuer center.
