Abstract
Caring for aging parents is something that eventually comes to many of us, sooner or later. For the author, that time came in their 30s. Their father was diagnosed with early-onset dementia, while their mother was simultaneously diagnosed with terminal cancer. Suddenly, they found themselves thrust into the role of being the primary caregiver for both parents.
This book is an illustrated essay that tenderly and humorously depicts the everyday life of this dual caregiving experience. The author, a single freelancer in their 30s residing in Shiwacho, Iwate Prefecture, shares their struggles and triumphs in juggling the responsibilities of caregiving. Through heartwarming illustrations and manga-style storytelling, the book presents a poignant and heartfelt family narrative. It teaches us valuable lessons about not giving up on our own lives while providing care and the importance of maintaining a positive attitude.
