Author’s Information
Munetoshi Maruyama Born in Shizuoka in 1974 (born in Tokyo but raised in Tokyo). Associate professor at Kyushu University Museum. His field of expertise is not only insects that live symbiotically with ants, but also the study of the treehopper, an insect with a protrusion on its thorax. He travels around the world collecting rare insects. After insects, his favorite things are cultivating succulents from the Stapelia family (subfamily Asclepiadae) and raising freshwater fish from Southeast Asia, but the line between hobbies and research is blurred, and this is interfering with his personal life. He has written many books, including ``Insects Are Amazing'' (Kobunsha), ``Sparkling Beetles,'' and ``Tropical Tree Cicadas: Impossible Insects'' (both published by Gentosha).
Taro Jueki Born in 1988 in Tokyo. Illustrator, painter, cartoonist. Selected for the 19th Taro Okamoto Contemporary Art Award. The winning work is ``Mushitori,'' which is a life-size depiction of the insects and plants he encountered on more than 80 panels. When you connect them together, you can see the various expressions of nature unfold before your eyes. He creates a variety of works using familiar insects as motifs. ``Yurufuwa Insect Encyclopedia'', which is published on Twitter, publishes ``one story a day'' of insect manga, and currently has a total of 140,000 social media followers. His publications include ``Yurufuwa Illustrated Encyclopedia of Insects'' (Takarajimasha) and ``Juekitaro's Insect Collecting Coloring Book'' (KADOKAWA).
