Abstract
In the conventional understanding of the history of Buddhism as "eastward propagation of Dharma" to the three countries of India, China, and Japan, the roles played by surrounding countries such as the Korean Peninsula and Vietnam, and the mutual influence among these countries, have been overlooked.
This book investigates and introduces how Buddhist faith changed in the Korean Peninsula and Vietnam, areas with diverse characteristics within the Chinese character culture sphere, through chronological order from ancient times to the present, while exploring the active history of exchange and mutual influence through Buddhism between China and surrounding countries.
