Author’s Information
Born January 25, 1944. Editorial engineer, Director of the Editing Engineering Research Institute, Principal of Isis Editing School, Director of Kadokawa Musashino Museum. Established "editing engineering" that applies thoughts from various fields such as Japanese culture, art, philosophy of life, and systems engineering to information culture technology. Additionally, as a leading expert on Japanese culture, he advocates the ``Japanese method'' and develops his own theory of Japan. Based on his experience of interacting with a huge number of books, he discovered the diverse relationships surrounding books and proposed ``Bookware,'' a method that expands the possibilities of reading. He has led various projects and productions for editing bookshelves, bookstores, and libraries, and has continued to propose new reading models at home and abroad. Projects that I have worked on so far include ``ISIS Book Street'', ``NIKI Gallery 册'', experimental bookstore ``Matsumaru Honpo'', Teikyo University ``Common Reading Library'', Ginza ``MIRROR Exhibition'', Muji products ``MUJIBOOKS'', Kinki University ``Academic Theater'', Kadokawa Musashino Museum ``Edit Town'', etc. The ISIS Hall, an office located along Setagaya Akatsumi Street, has approximately 60,000 books on display and serves as a base for various activities.
