Author’s Information
Shinsuke Koike is an associate professor of Institute of Agriculture at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. His expertise is ecology, and particularly in biology of Asian black bears in Okutatama (Tokyo) and Ashio-Nikko Mountains (Tochigi and Gunma prefecture) and interspecific interaction in forest ecosystem. He is member of Asiatic black bear Expert Team, in Bear Specialist Group of Species Survival Commission, IUCN./ Toshihiko Sawai is a photographer. He began his photographic career in 1980 and is based in Japanese northern alps, he mainly focuses on changing seasons, forests and mountains. He received the 5th Tabuchi Yukio Prize for the series of Asian black bear photos in 2016.
