Maruko Tsuyuno
Maruko Tsuyuno, born in 1986, is affiliated with the Kamigata Rakugo Association. After graduating from high school, she was apprenticed to Tsuyuno Danshiro. She trained at the residence of her grandmaster, Goryobei Tsuyuno II. In 2011, she became the youngest recipient of the Shinyo-Tei Glittering Award and Newcomer Award. Since her student days, she has been a devotee of Buddhism and was ordained as a nun at Enryaku-ji Temple on Mount Hiei in 2011. She is currently active in various fields as a professional rakugo storyteller and an active nun.
