Abstract
Decoding the Shushōgi from Dogen's Shōbōgenzō": Compiled during the mid-Meiji era, the Shushōgi is a selection of excerpts from Dogen's Shōbōgenzō. Recognized as a 'canonical text' of the Soto Zen School and a guide for the lives of Buddhists, the author of this book analyzes the Shushōgi, interweaving his personal experiences into the interpretation.

"Kogai Maruyama
A Buddhist nun and scholar of Buddhist studies (Soto school). Born in Gunma Prefecture in 1946 (Showa 21). Graduated from the Faculty of Education, Waseda University, and withdrew from the doctoral program in Buddhist Studies at the Graduate School of Humanities, Komazawa University. Ordained in 1982, after training at the Aichi Zen Nunnery, she devoted herself to academic research and is currently the head priest of Kissho-in Temple (Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture) and a special researcher in the School of Religion at the Soto Zen Comprehensive Research Center. She has written numerous books, including ""Biographies of Chinese Zen Ancestors"" (Soto Zen Administrative Office), ""Clouds, Wind, and Moon - Records of a Nun's Memorial Service"" (Chuo Koron Business Publishing), and numerous papers."
