Abstract

"Buddhism in Korea": This book provides a comprehensive overview of the historical development and ideological features of Buddhism in Korea (the Korean Peninsula), as well as the current state of Buddhism in Korea. It not only discusses the unique aspects of Korean Buddhism that have influenced Japanese Buddhism but also discusses its representative scholars. Author’s Information

Atsushi Sato
Atsushi Sato was born in Yamagata Prefecture in 1967. He completed his doctorate at the Toyo University Graduate School of Literature's Indian Philosophy and Buddhist Studies program with his dissertation, "Study of Hwaeom Doctrine in Silla and Goryeo." He is currently a part-time lecturer at Toyo University, Senshu University, and Dokkyo University. His co-authored work includes "Buddhism in the Unified Silla Period" in "New History of Asian Buddhism Vol.10" (Kosei Publishing), and his translations include "History of Korean Buddhism" (Shunjusha).
