Abstract

Largo the Jay Mouse is the only one of his siblings to have a curled tail. “A curly tail brings happiness,” his mother told him.
When Largo goes out to look for food for his family, he suddenly comes across an old man who lives alone in a small house and plays a musical instrument. When the old man begins to play, the sounds begin to overflow, and happy memories appear one after another, and Largo, too, is drawn into the world of the old man. When the song ends, Largo hurriedly hides and finds a walnut placed in the gap in the window.
From then on, Largo begins to visit his grandfather's house every day.
Summer has ended and autumn has arrived in the fields. When I went to my grandfather's house as usual, the light was out.
"Huh? It's quiet today, isn't it?"

This is a moving work that depicts the bond between humans and animals through music, expressed in beautiful and detailed cutouts.

Author’s Information

Picture book author and illustrator. While enrolled in the Graduate School of Agriculture at Kyoto University, he was exposed to the joy of design and began designing, illustrating, and producing picture books.
