Abstract

Dr. Takeshi Hirohashi announced that he was diagnosed with cancer in May 2023 and will be forced to undergo long-term cancer treatment. He specializes in palliative care for cancer and has faced patients head-on as a doctor, but when he became a cancer patient himself, he was often confused. Based on his own experiences, this book explains the knowledge necessary for cancer patients and their families to live with cancer from two perspectives: doctor and patient. One million people are diagnosed with cancer each year (National Cancer Research Center, 2019), and approximately 380,000 people die from cancer. This is an era in which cancer accounts for 26.5% of the total annual deaths. How should patients and their families face the disease so that they can live "peacefully" and "comfortably"? By reading this book, you will be able to understand the "truths" and "misunderstandings" about cancer treatment that are not generally known.
