Author’s Information

Kaori Hayashi is a professor at the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies, the University of Tokyo. She specializes in journalism and media studies. Her main works include Media Distrust: What is being questioned? (Iwanami Shoten, 2017), Women's and Children's Journalism: With an Ethics of Care (Iwanami Shoten, 2011), The Reality of Television Program Production Companies: The Voices of the Creators and the Current State of Broadcasting (co-edited and written by Otsuki Shoten, 2022), and Could You Move Your Feet? Are the Media Conveying Women's Voices? (edited and written by Aki Shobo, 2019).
Toko Tanaka is a professor at the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies, the University of Tokyo. She specializes in media culture theory, cultural studies, and feminism. Her main works include Media Culture and Gender Politics: From the Perspective of Third-Wave Feminism (Sekai Shisosha, 2012), Girls' Media Studies (edited and written by Hokuju Publishing, 2021), and Like! Before You Press the Button: Cyberspace and Media from a Gender Perspective (co-author, Akishobo, 2023), Feminism and the Politics of Resilience: Gender, Media, and the End of Welfare (McRobbie, co-translator, Seidosha, 2022), and Cultural Studies: Learning from Events (co-editor, Nakanishiya Publishing, 2017).
