Abstract

At the beach in my hometown, there is a “rule of the sea” that I have been taught since childhood.
・Do not pick up anything that has fallen into the sea.
・Do not go to the beach on rainy days.
・Do not rescue a drowning person on a rainy day.
・Do not swim after the Bon festival.
・If someone calls you at night in the sea, run away immediately.
・If you see blood, do not go into the sea.

I thought that all of these were probably superstitions that had been passed down from generation to generation to prevent maritime accidents and unforeseen incidents, and I did not pay any attention to them until I came to my senses.
That is, until the end of the summer of my sophomore year in high school, when a friend of mine died a mysterious death from a ring he picked up in the ocean. ......
This book was written by Wellzard, the author of “Find the body” which was made into a movie in 2022. In this shivering series of 11 stories, he sets forth a “rule of the sea” that you might have seen at any beach, but which is disturbing if you read it carefully.
The protagonist eventually recalls the abominable incidents associated with the rules, along with memories of his childhood home sea.
What is the mystery behind the six sea rules, and the real reason why these rules must be followed?
