Author’s Information

Akiko Kamei is a senior researcher in the Nutrition Group at the National Institute of Sports Sciences.
She holds a PhD in Nutrition, is a registered dietitian and a certified Sports Nutrition and Dietitian Japan(SNDJ).
In March 1995, she completed her graduate studies in Nutrition at the Japan Women's University of Nutrition, and was an assistant at the university until March 2007, when she became a full-time lecturer. She has been in her current position since April 2007, after working as a contracted researcher and researcher at the National Institute of Sports Sciences.
She is also a director of the Japan Society of Sports Nutrition, a non-profit organization; chair of the Nutrition Subcommittee on Medical Science Information at the Japan Gymnastics Association, and vice chair of the Nutrition Support Subcommittee on the Medical Committee of the Japan Football Association. She has provided nutrition support at Olympic venues, including Beijing (2008), Vancouver (2010), London (2012), Sochi (2014), Rio de Janeiro (2016), and Pyeongchang (2018), as well as at many other Asian Games.
Her co-authored works include "Sports Nutrition: Diets that Enhance Training Effects" (IK Corporation), "Nutrition and Diet Guide for Athletes" (Daiichi Publishing), "New Edition: Sports Nutrition for Conditioning" and "Essential Sports Nutrition" (Ichimura Publishing), and "Sports Medical Science Guidebook to Support Junior Athletes" (Medical View Publishing), among many others.
