Abstract

A picture book that vividly depicts a year in a greenhouse from seedlings to bright red ripened strawberries, as well as the bonds of a family. Himari is proud of her grandfather's strawberry greenhouse. Every day, the whole family takes care of the strawberries. One day, her friend Kaho comes to visit, but she is afraid of the bees buzzing around the greenhouse... This picture book vividly depicts the blessings of nature that surround a single life, and the bonds of a family. Also recommended for seasonal read-alouds. At the end of the book, there is a page explaining the process of "how delicious strawberries are made"! This will further broaden children's interest in strawberries, which they love. Born in Yamaguchi Prefecture in 1958. Children's literature author. Professor at Notre Dame Seishin University. Received the Noma Children's Literature Award for "Onee-chan" (Rironsha), the Japan Children's Literature Association Award for "Char Siu no Tsuki" (Komine Shoten), and the Tsubota Joji Literature Award for "Arara no Hatake". Her books include "Kaasan no Shippo-po" (BL Publishing), and picture books include "Tanabata no Negaigoto" (Sekai Bunka Publishing), "Kokun" (Doshinsha), and "Hadete Aruku" (Asunaro Shobo). She has also edited and published "Ehon no Reading Exchange Connecting Female Prisoners with Their Children" (Kamogawa Publishing), and has been actively holding picture book reading exchanges in various places for many years. /Born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1978. Picture book author and illustrator. Graduated from the Faculty of Education at Kumamoto University.
