Abstract

Antengai: Twilight Metropolis—a isolated island where humans and spirits co-exist. A solitary isle, and a world unto itself.

Long ago, the world was overrun by Ayakashi—spirits born of dark energy. The master mystics of the era sealed all of these spirits away on this single island, casting a barrier around it. Peace was restored to the world... save for this city, forever trapped alongside the spirits.

Severed from all contact with the outside world, the city devolved into a haven for spirits, where lawless, impoverished slums are a common sight. In these dire regions exist children known as the "sold ones"—abandoned souls with nowhere left to turn, traded or handed over to a place known only as the "Church." It is said that just before these young boys and girls draw their final breath, a red halo of light appears above their heads. Is this a light of hope meant to illuminate the abyss—or something else entirely?

The second installment in the series arrives to explore the ends of life, rebirth, and reincarnation. A gentle, tragic serenade.
