The story is told from a little girl’s perspective. She is aware of the things she can and cannot do at her age. She can’t go outside and wander unattended. She does not have a loud voice with which to greet others. She can’t sleep alone at night. But she is determined to do all of these things when she gets older. One day, she has a fight with a friend...

Chiaki Okada’s soft and warm illustrations perfectly express the mannerisms and expressions of a young child. Mari Kasai opens a window into the world of a child’s mind with her simple yet meaningful words.
Parents will see a reflection of their lives with their own children in this book.
