Abstract

The long-awaited latest book from Emi Nekozawa, author of "Nekoshiki"!

This book tells the story of the year and a half from her first encounter with Io-chan, a cat she rescued from the streets in 2019, to her final farewell.
It intertwines Io-chan's novel with the author's own social media diary.
After becoming a member of the Nekozawa family, Io miraculously recovered from the brink of starvation and enjoyed a second, fulfilling life as a cat.
However, she was diagnosed with acute squamous cell carcinoma. After a month and a half of battling the disease, she passed away in March 2021.
Io-chan's journey to heaven was shared through Nekozawa's social media, eliciting deep emotions both in Japan and overseas.
Please read this heartwarming story of love between a man and a cat.

*It also includes many of the Nekozawa family's recipes, which were hugely popular in her previous work, "Nekoshiki."
