Abstract
Sweden: A country Japanese people who find it difficult to work and raise children should know about.
"Is it really possible to balance work and child-rearing?" Sweden offers clues to answering this question. While Sweden is now known as a child-rearing-friendly country, 30 years ago, while systems for working while raising children were in place, the gendered division of labor, where "men work and women raise children," remained deeply rooted. This situation may have some similarities to Japan today. In this book, a Japanese data scientist who has lived in Sweden for 25 years explains the process of Swedish society's transformation and the current dual-income parenting style among Swedish people, drawing on his own parenting experiences. The book is peppered with clues for Japanese people to raise children in a dual-income household without overexerting themselves.
