Abstract
This work won both the 51st Izumi Kyoka Literary Prize and the 45th Noma Literary Newcomer Prize!
Asato undergoes a left hand transplant at a hospital in Hungary. However, when he wakes up from the anesthesia, he finds that the hand he is connected to is that of a white stranger. This work questions what it means to have one's body and country taken away from oneself.
Author’s Information
Born in Kyoto Prefecture in 1981. In 2021, He won the 7th Hayashi Fumiko Literary Prize for "Salt Road." In 2023, he won the 36th Mishima Yukio Prize for "Plant Girl." He is also a practicing physician.
