Abstract

The ghosts are taken to the sea for the first time by the grandfather. While playing ball with the octopus brothers they meet in the sea, they find a baby whale caught in a net and lying limp. They all try their best to return the whale to the sea. Will the whale be able to return safely? This is an adorable story with bright red sunburned ghosts.

Born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1940. Picture book author and artist. His works include the "Big Octopus Maston" series (Gyosei), "Let's Play, Mummy" and "Knock and Knock" (PHP Institute), "Stroll with Dad" and "Tsutomu and the Magic Bus" (Kyoiku Gageki), "The Little Bear and the Two Monsters" (Doshinsha), and the "10 Ghosts" series (Hikari no Kuni). He won the Erba Award at the Bologna Children's Book Fair for "The Ghost and the Children's King" (PHP Institute), and the 29th Hirosuke Fairy Tale Award for "Tsutomu and the Cat's Day Fairy" (Komine Shoten).
