A management scholar uses research findings to analyze the "political skills necessary for businesspeople" through "theories and frameworks" based on academic research from around the world.

Research on office politics is a major topic of study worldwide and is by no means uncommon. Many widely read organizational behavior textbooks around the world include a chapter on "power and politics," and many people around the world study "office politics" as a specialized field in business schools and other settings.

This book does not encourage or instruct readers to become "cunning office politicians." Rather than shying away from office politics, it offers perspectives and clues for understanding its various aspects and handling it appropriately depending on the situation. This book is for all businesspeople who want to unite people with differing interests and exert influence to achieve their company's goals.

Author’s Information

PhD in Economics, University of Tokyo. After working at a startup and in organizational and HR consulting, he became a professor at Hosei University in 2018. He became a professor at Showa Women's University in 2025.

He has published numerous papers in internationally influential academic journals, mainly in the field of business administration. His paper published in the International Journal of Management Reviews in 2015 was selected as one of the world's top 10 papers on internal politics. He continues to publish his research results in international journals. His specialties are organizational behavior and organizational analytics. He provides consulting and training on corporate organizational reform and human resource strategies, and is committed to applying his research findings to the workplace.
