Abstract
- Why did gathering talented people result in a disappointing organization?
- The psychology of “organizations” by a group psychology expert
- To understand how to build a team of “everyone” who works
People make foolish decisions when they work in groups. Working alone is less likely to create conflicts, succumb to peer pressure, and slack off.
However, large tasks can only be accomplished in groups.
Groups are inherently problematic. Problems such as "interpersonal conflicts resulting from merely expressing an opinion" and "a lack of an atmosphere where people can speak out" arise from the characteristics of people who live in groups.
Humans have both "universal group psychology, unchanged since ancient times" and "group psychology unique to modern times." Understanding group psychology is extremely useful when you want to take your organization one step further. This book introduces how experts in social psychology and industrial/organizational psychology can improve groups, using scientific knowledge and research as a backdrop.
