Abstract
You must not depict a living person on a "Meikon Ema" (votive tablet for a wedding to the dead)—you will be taken away as the spouse of the deceased. "Meikon Ema" is a custom in which people dedicate votive tablets depicting a wedding ceremony with fictional characters to mourn those who died without a spouse. These tablets are drawn with the hopes of the bereaved family to pray for the deceased's peaceful repose and happiness in the afterlife, but there is one "taboo" that exists. "If you depict a real person on the tablet, that person will be taken to the underworld." Shoichi Konuma, who has been transferred to a town where the Meikon Ema custom exists, encounters an eerie girl. From that day on, his daily life is consumed by the supernatural... A Japanese horror story revolving around a wedding ceremony with the dead begins here.
