Abstract

This is the story of 12 years of me and Pae.
Pae has been around since I became me. Pae, a kitten, came to my house the day after I was born. Pae and I, who are the same age, grow up together. I love Pae very much, and I am sure he loves me too. Pae was a very strong cat, standing up to big stray cats to protect the house, and purring in her sleep. One day, however, Pae falls ill. Pae lost all his energy after he got sick, and I grew bigger and bigger. And when I turned 12 years old.......
From a boy's point of view, this is a story about his own growth, the days he spends with his pet, and the goodbye he has to say. This is the first picture book by popular author Michiko Yazuki.

Michiko Yazuki was born in Kanagawa Prefecture, she made her debut in 2002 with "Twelve Years Old" (Kodansha), which won the 42nd Kodansha Children's Literature Newcomer Award. "Shizukana Hibi" (Kodansha) won the 45th Noma Children's Literature Award and the 23rd Tsubota Joji Literature Award, and "Tomorrow's Dining Table" (KADOKAWA) won the 3rd Kanagawa Book Grand Prize. She has also published many other works.

Kanako Ogawa was born in Tokyo. Illustrator. Her picture books include "Panda's Soft Ice Cream Shop" and "Usagisan no tanjoubi" (Bunny's Birthday) (both published by Fukuinkan Shoten). She has also created many illustrations for book covers.
