Abstract
The other world, the invisible world beyond the world in which we live. In ancient times, people feared and respected beings beyond human knowledge, and created a world called the Otherworld. This book explains the culture, traditions, and society that people built through the other world. What are the spiritual barriers that are placed around shrines? Was "Kagome-kagome" a spell? Was the northeast the path of demons? Was Sumo wrestling a ritual to ward off evil? The author unravels the "other world" from the viewpoints of folk beliefs handed down from the ancients and history.
