Abstract
One day the Doctor Bird meets an crow who turns the tap of water fountain for drinking and bathing. He names the genious crow Gumi and continues observing her behavior. He has never seen other crows who can do the same thing. He continues observing Gumi and is amazed by her talent. However, the happy days leads to an end nobody had expected.
Author’s Information
Hiroyoshi Higuchi is Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo and Visiting Professor at Keio University. He received a Ph.D. in the ecological and morphological studies of island birds from the University of Tokyo. He served as a visiting research scientist at the University of Michigan and as Full Professor of Biodiversity Science at the University of Tokyo. He is interested in various aspects of Ecology and Conservation Biology, ranging from island biology and bird migration through the conflicts between crows and humans to the impact of climate change on birds and plants. He served as the Asian Section President of the Society for Conservation Biology and the President of the Ornithological Society of Japan.
Mari Ootaguro is an illustrator. She draws familiar living creatures, especially birds. She offers illustrations for many books since 2004, including field guides, magazines and pamphlets.
